The day starts with a 4X4 Safari Tour 2 hours 1/2 long.
The vehicle is a Land Rover Defender 4X4 in excellent working condition and covered by the required insurances. Security belts are installed in
the back, for every passenger. A white cover protects the people from
the sun and the rain. In case of abundant rain showers, rain coats are
at one’s disposal on board.
The driver and guide, Patrick or Manate, knows every corner of his island, and loves to share his knowledge and experience. During the tour, he gives details on the geological formation of Bora Bora island, the history of religious sites (marae) and some sacred practices (human sacrifices for example), as well as information on American presence during the second world war. The visitors can also enjoy great views of Bora Bora lagoon, as well as a very safe and interesting ride.
After the excursion, the
guide takes the visitors to the outrigger canoe, for a ride to the private island, where the Polynesian lunch takes place. Lunch is prepared by two
cooks in a traditional earth oven made with volcanic rocks, and covered by
banana leaves. The guests watch the opening of the oven and listen to the explanations of the
guide. The table is set in the lagoon, with an umbrella to protect guests from
the sun.
On the menu: suckling pig, chicken with local spinach, manioc,
plantain bananas, bread fruit, raw fish salad with coconut milk, and
finally a traditional dessert made with bananas and vanilla, as
well as fresh tropical fruits. It is possible to replace the Polynesian lunch by a BBQ: fish,
chicken, beef/porc, polynesian vegetables, raw fish salad
with coconut milk, tropical fruits. Options are possible.
The lunch comes with a bottle of champagne, or red/white wine depending on the guests’ preference. Please give preference at time of reservation.
The afternoon is spent on the lagoon, with a complete
circle island tour of Bora Bora, including a snorkeling
stop on a coral garden, a visit to the sting rays in
shallow water, and finally the observation of black tip
reef sharks outside the lagoon.
Snorkeling equipment is provided during the tour, as well as drinks:
mineral water, fruit juice, soft drinks, and beer.
